As consumers, the web services and APIs offered by Google, eBay, Yahoo, and others have changed how the apps we use are created and re-used, and their role in making them more useful is clear. At work, the model for building mashups and making them relevant to businesses is now also emerging. With the shift to on demand and utility computing models, new mashups based on their consumer counterparts are changing the apps business people use, the way those apps are built, and the way companies profit from supplying them.
